David Hicks
David Hicks draws ceramic inspiration from the fields surrounding his home. The shapes of his work reference agriculture in space: suspended in trees, buried in soil, resting on his shed. They hold an organic yet fundamental and mechanical theme. In addition, Hicks claims that agriculture and the forms inspired by it reference his own human experience. The cycles of agriculture life reference his own human struggles (fertilization, growth, death, decay). He also calls upon the rawness of organic forms and the beauty of the language they convey.
