Myungjin Kim
According to Kim's artist statement, her work is inspired by "lightness." And by lightness, she means a sense of peacefulness and rest. And this description is quite true for her work. Her pieces are all made of porcelain and are hand-painted. She is especially known for landscapes that spread across several vessels (as seen above). She is able to play with different perspectives and the theme of realism vs. surrealism as well as play with the role of the shape of the vessel in presenting the image. Also, lately, her work has focused on the theme of birds. This, therefore, further enhances the reoccurring theme of "lightness."
