Adam Field: An New Artist to the World of Ceramics
Adam Field was born and raised in Colorado and he graduated from Fort Lewis College with a BA in Art. Field spent two years after graduation in the culturally vibrant city of San Francisco where he established his first studio business. From there he spent some time in Maui, however, now he is established in Durango, Colorado. What makes Field a rather unique American artist is attributed to the year he spent in South Korea where he spent his time learning traditional Korean techniques under Kim Il Mahn, a 6th generation Onggi Master. Another factor that plays a part in Fields artistic style is his fascination with antique artifacts. His goal in his work is to both express a piece of history while capturing the moment of today. Field has been praised for his intricate, carved designs that he says are inspired by indeginous fiber art, including Hawaiian tapa, Incan cordage, and Zulu basketry.
